Tulip Craving Sorted

I've had the most awful craving for tulips lately. And chocolate. But that's easily and frequently dealt with.

Many of my favourite blogs and blog-buddies are soaking up the spring and spring colours up in the Northern Hemisphere whilst here in Kangaroo Land we are immersed in autumn.

Autumn is beautiful but my favourite season is Spring. With Blogland awash with pictures of bulbs and blossoms I started feeling a teensy bit down in the dumps.

Until today.
My local supermarket had out of season glasshouse bulbs. Yes! It's bloody sacrilege!!!
But I leapt at them!

I stuck my nose right in that pot of hyacinths and inhaled until I could smell potting mix (probably not good in terms on Legionnaires disease).

Boxes of tulips!

I was ready to buy a pot of Hyacinths, Jonquils and the Tulips. The Cyclamen were pretty but I wanted a spring flower.
In the end I chose a little pot of Tulips.
I love the variegated Parrot ones!

Whenever I have flowers in the house, I have more of an urge to actually tidy up the house!

And light a delicious orange candle...

I'm just sharing a photo of these because I love their colours.

The Mothership and the Fatherdom are holidaying in Italy.  Mum has been on the look out for yarny things for me and came across a gorgeous little yarn shop near where they were staying in Lucca.

Apparently it's not often open but right in one of the shop windows was a display of Australian Merino!

Work is progressing on a scarfed hoodie I am making for a friends daughter (the little Mermaid )...

I am no such mermaid obviously!
Red Haired Riding Hood perhaps?

Monday is one of my favourite days (apart from the fact I have to drag myself off to work which is not my favourite thing to do :(  ) because I join some amazing crafters in Handmade Mondays. So pop over there and see some truly talented people!

  2. You look completely fabulous in that scarfed hoodie!
I'm in the UK, and Spring is my favourite season too. The flowers are looking very pretty, but only two purple tulips have managed to flower in or garden so far this year. I'm hoping we may get a few more when it warms up a bit!

  4. Here in Ottawa, "May" is Tulip Festival Month... Our leafy bits are only about 6-inches up so far! The LAST bit of ice on our lawn finally melted a few weeks ago!! It was covering the Crocus patches... However, we do have a bouquet of Trilliums in the backyard that've suddenly popped UP! And the Lilacs are beginning to bud...

    1. I LOVE lilacs! Ive put off planting one until I move house next year. My home town of Canberra has the Floriade Tulip festival every year as well. Are you going to post some tulip pictures on your blog when they flower? I'd love to see them!

  5. Sorry that we are all enjoying and sharing photos of the gorgeous spring flowers all over the place here at the moment - we forget you have the falling leaves and chilly days to contend with. The Parrot tulips are beautiful though so I'm glad you were able to treat yourself.

    1. Everything seems cuter in those little italian places! I would be in there maxing out the credit card! I spent a good 10 minutes drooling over the plain yellows, pinks and reds before deciding on these tulips!

    1. I haven't seen any such yarn window displays here either. I think Mum has bought a few scrummy balls of italian merino for me. Then I'll spend months fussing over what I'm going to use it for! Thank you for visiting!
